Patient Safety
Our top priority at VCU Health CMH is the safety and well being of our patients. But ensuring your safety requires your active participation in your care. It is very important that you partner with your health care team to make your stay at CMH as pleasant and safe as possible.
Smoking
To provide a healthy environment for patients, visitors and team members, and to maintain our accreditation by The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital and all of its campuses are tobacco free.
Fire Drills
VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital holds periodic fire and disaster drills. When they occur, you will hear a bell chime. In most cases, the drills are to train hospital personnel only; you don’t have to do anything. If a real emergency occurs, follow the instructions given by our nursing staff.
Electrical Safety
All electrical equipment is subject to a safety inspection by the Engineering Department. Battery operated personal grooming devices in good condition and which meet reasonable safety standards as verified by a Biomedical Engineering Department inspection will be allowed for use in your room.
Cellular Telephones
The use of cellular phones should be restricted to public areas such as lobbies and waiting areas. Phones can cause noise pollution and disturb our patients.
