7/10/19, Hydroxyurea adherence: Risks, Monitoring, Intervention
- Adherence to hydroxyurea among youth and adults with SCD is variable. Many don't take it daily.
- Personal Best fetal hemoglobin can be used to monitor adherence (often with MCV and other blood parameters, pharmacy refills).
- The HABIT intervention, led by community health workers, is promising and is currently undergoing a multi-site RCT.
