Biography

Dr. Duane Williams is chief of the Division of Critical Care Medicine at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU.

A native of the Bronx, he attended undergraduate and medical school at Penn State University and Penn State College of Medicine respectively. He completed his pediatric residency at the Penn State Children’s Hospital. He received advanced fellowship training in pediatric critical care from Duke Children’s. After serving in clinical and leadership roles, he completed a Master’s in Health Administration. Dr. D’s clinical interests of acute respiratory failure, outcomes in pediatric critical care and the care of post-operative intensive care patients are highlighted in his scholarly work. 

Dr. D is a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, American Academy of Pediatrics, Pediatric Acute Lung Injury and Sepsis Investigators Network and the American College of Healthcare Executives. 

He is supported in his efforts by his bride of over 20 years and his seven children.
