Anesthesiology

The anesthesia department of VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital is under the medical direction of a physician who is a board-certified anesthesiologist. The anesthesiologist and the nurse anesthetists provide anesthesia services 24-hours a day for inpatients, outpatients, and emergency patients requiring surgical procedures. Other types of services provided include care of the patient in the surgical setting along with emergency airway management in all areas of the hospital, central line insertion, administering epidurals for women in labor and acute postoperative pain management.

Anesthesia services' primary role is to ensure your safety and comfort in the “peri-operative period” - the time just before, during, and immediately after your surgery. He or she will discuss with you your medical history and your scheduled surgery. Your anesthesia options and pain management plan will be reviewed with you.

Anesthesia services are available for patients at all times of the day or night, with typical hours from 6:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. and on-call staff responding to after-hours needs.

Pain management services are also offered by Dr. Manhal Saleeby. For more information call (434) 584-5513 (CARE).
