Division of Transplant Surgery,
Department of Surgery at VCU and
VCU Health System

Welcome to the Virginia Commonwealth University Hume-Lee Transplant Center, where our commitment to transplantation is unsurpassed. Our rich and innovative history began in 1957, when the Medical College of Virginia completed the first organ transplant in Virginia and shortly after created the nation's first Clinical Transplant Program. As we pioneered history in transplantation, we also set the foundation for our future as a leading transplant center.

Our mission of providing the best in patient care, research and education has allowed us to maintain our position as a leading authority in all aspects of solid organ transplantation. The dedication of our staff has helped our program grow and develop into one that’s far more advanced than anyone thought possible just 50 years ago.

Today, we are one of the busiest transplant programs in the nation, known for superior patient outcomes that are made possible by our top-tier transplant physicians and surgeons, our dedicated laboratories, and our award-winning nursing staff.

I invite you to learn more about what we are doing in transplantation. Our comprehensive transplant programsresearch and fellowship programs are just a few of the reasons we are proud to say that one of the top solid organ abdominal transplant programs in the world is right here at the VCU Medical Center.

Please do not hesitate to contact us at (804) 828-4104 if you would like additional information or to make an appointment.
