Advanced Heart Failure
If you have advanced heart disease, you may consider evaluation for Ventricular Assist Device (VAD), heart transplant or a mechanical heart pump. Surgeons at VCU Health pioneered the original techniques for heart transplantation. Today, the Heart Transplant Program continues to excel with outstanding outcomes.
Our Mechanical Circulatory Support Program offers comprehensive therapy for patients with severe symptoms including Left Ventricular Assist Devices. VCU Health is also world leader in implanting the Total Artificial Heart.

Outstanding Heart Failure Care
Our Heart Failure Disease Management Team has been awarded the Outstanding Heart Failure Care Team Award from the Heart Failure Society of America - HFSA.
Dealing with every aspect of heart failure from diagnosis to treatment, our Heart Failure Disease Management Team is made up of the inpatient heart failure navigator team, the outpatient heart failure APPs, and the heart failure nurse coordinators. As it recognizes a comprehensive heart failure disease management team offered in and out of the hospital, this HFSA award is a result of the collaborative efforts of the teammates working across the various parts of our heart failure team.
