Occupational Therapy
Everyday activities such as cooking or getting dressed can be difficult for people who have been seriously injured or suffer from a debilitating disease.
Occupational therapists work with patients to assist them in regaining independence in daily living skills such as eating, dressing, personal hygiene activities and kitchen activities. If a patient can no longer perform a skill, the therapist can teach alternatives.

VCU Health CMH's occupational therapists work with the patient, family members and referring physician to develop an individualized treatment plan. Occupational Therapists also work with patients to determine if they require any special tools or equipment to help them perform daily activities.
